|Recommended: YesA Decent and Convenient Choice near the UW Campus — Parking Availability - It can be hard to find street parking near the Highlander, but the garage parking at Henry Gilman is very convenient.
Noise - It is fairly quiet within the Highlander. The windows are not that soundproof though, even near the top of the building.
Grounds Cleanliness - Outside of the common room it might not be the prettiest cleanest, but I do not particularly mind.
Construction Quality - Some things were missing broken in the apartment before I moved in, but these were resolved within one and a half weeks.
Maintenance Staff - Haru sp did a good job fixing everything I noted in the move-in checklist in a timely manner.
Property Staff - Cassie Carney was a huge help in securing a place to stay. This is my first time living in an apartment, and Cassie answered all of my many questions in a thorough and timely manner. I wanted to move in before the usual mid-August lease start date, and Cassie let me know of an opening as soon as it became available. She also helped me get a garage parking spot, and saw to it that the necessary work orders were placed for the apartment.
Overall - I have not lived in other apartments, in particular in the Madison area, so I cannot compare other places with the Highlander, but I feel satisfied thus far.
|Recommended: YesThis property is well kept and is affordable — I would tell them that you certainly get what you pay for. While it is not the most illustrious building you certainly get a great location in the city especially if you're in college and a very decent apartment. Management was always helpful.
|Recommended: NoApt Review — I wasn't happy that my 17 yr old daughter got put into an apartment with a man without us being informed prior that this was going to be the setup. Very dangerous.
|Recommended: NoHorrible and Gross. Do Not Do Roommate Matching. — The building itself is run down and not clean. It smelt like smoke in the hallway and in my apartment and the property staff did not care. I was also placed with a male roommate when I requested a female roommate. On top of that my apartment or room was not cleaned before I got there so it was a mess. There was mold in the toilet and in the shower. I do not recommended staying here even if its your last option. The pictures on the website lie.

|Recommended: YesIt is a choice but not the best one — The fee for delaying the rent is too high. Sometime, I forgot to pay on time and when I pay the rent after two days of the due, I have pay about 30 dollars for it.
|Recommended: YesAwesome — Located in downtown Madison, the Highlander is close to every important places such as Wisconsin School of Business, State Street and every happening places' . Nice neighborhood and very good people also made me like this place.
|Recommended: NoIt's bad — The apartments on the 10th floor 1001 1002 is extremely small when compared to the rest. However, this was not informed while we were signing the lease.
